- 1 35ml bottle of Petro Patch compound
- 1 fabric patch measuring approximately 80mm x 300mm
Before applying Petro Patch dean the surface to remove grease grime etc but note that Petro Patch can be applied to rusted surfaces without removing the rust although loose scale must be removed.
Wear gloves when applying Petro Patch apply coating of solution to surface. Next cut a piece at prepared patching material and apply on both sides until soft. If in cold weather the fluid is rather thick stand the jar in warm (not hot) water for a couple of minutes.
Apply a patch and work to contour. Allow to set for 20 minutes then apply another coat of solution. If possible leave 24 hours before using but if urgently required it will usually be hard enough in a few hours. When repairing an article to contain a liquid which has an actual hole (or open crack) use a patch as above and when thy put another slightly larger patch on top it.
*Petrol Tanks: Apply Petro Patch when level in tank is below the part to be repaired. As no heat is required there is no danger of explosion.
*Body Repairs: For rusted and hoed wings door panels leaking roots etc. apply Petro Patch as described above and leave 24 hours to harden thoroughly before repainting to match. For additional strength at edges etc. build up with two or more layers.
